Now
What I'm doing at the moment
A short page in the now page tradition. I update it about once a quarter.
Building
- The next phase of the agent platform on retail use cases: the multi-agent architecture on Microsoft Agent Framework and Azure AI Foundry, and the knowledge graph beside the ontology.
- Azure cloud digitization of the order management and fulfillment services. The services run in containers on AKS behind API Management, and the data moves onto Azure Database for PostgreSQL. I lead the target architecture and the cutover plan, and the engineering teams are delivering the services.
- The data platform: Fabric Mirroring as the ingestion backbone, Direct Lake semantic models scoped by business domain, and the cost model that goes with them.
Learning
- Ontology-grounded agents, on my own time and on synthetic data. The notes are on the learning page.
- Small practice experiments on synthetic data, with the right answers planted before anything runs.
- Where engineering is heading as coding agents become shared infrastructure. My notes on the engineering harness.
Writing
- Articles on ontology-grounded agents. They are published here first, then on LinkedIn and Medium.
- Kafka questions still arrive from the 2019 series. I answer them.
Thinking about
- What a written spec has to contain before a coding agent can be trusted with it, and what the review agent should refuse.
- Reference data in the graph, transactions in the systems of record. Where that line moves when agents need to act, not just read.
- When a knowledge graph pays for itself, and when the ontology and the semantic layer are enough.
- How to measure an engineering team whose drafts are mostly written by agents. The KPIs I set two years ago are due for a rewrite.
Speaking and community
- Open to meetups and conferences on agent platforms in production, ontologies for agents, the agentic SDLC, and retail order fulfillment. Details and a speaker bio.
- Editor at Egen Engineering & Beyond on Medium.
- Running the technical workshops and bootcamps for our engineering teams at Egen.
